Overview
The (Liberty-based) Outback's evolution heads further in the right direction - especially with the price reduction and increased standard equipment. Engines are improved with more power available at lower rpm and extra kilometers per litre of fuel. Interiors are well laid out with plenty of room and handy niceties in the luggage compartment. A big moves forward is the return to a full-sized spare alloy wheel. The new 2.0-litre boxer diesel lays claims as a first and is available in manual transmission form only. With a full compliment of airbags (including driver's knee) it gets the full five star ANCAP rating.
