It’s an original 1965, Australian assembled, Mark III Sprite in original Champion Red with knock-on wire wheels and 1098 cc engine. Modification is limited to the chrome rollover protection bar and Ram-Flo air filters. The spare wheel is an original matching wire wheel.
This car presents and drives well. Since buying it in 2024 (for $20K) its 92-year-old owner has driven it regularly on full NSW registration (with required annual inspection). Registered to April 2027.
The soft top is ‘like new’ but not fitted for ease of access. A tonneau cover is used for everyday pootling about the Far North Coast of NSW.
Its history and true mileage is not known. Ongoing care and repair is evident: the new soft top and condition of the carpets and seats (originally protected by sheepskin covers) show this. No rust is apparent or noted by roadworthy inspectors. Since 2024 some trim items (e.g. headlight surrounds, rear lights, fuel cap etc) were replaced. The tachometer was also fixed and new front bearings and king pins fitted. Purchase includes a Hayne’s repair guide, Sprite buyer’s guide, copy of the Sprite Driver's Handbook and a new indicator cluster.
It’s a good car, but some minor work would improve its presentation and driveability. That is for someone younger with tools and internet/parts access. Price reduced but still negotiable.
