1983 Pontiac Trans-Am. originally Imported and converted by Dartom Motors.
These cars were made famous by the 80's TV Show Knight Rider starring David Hasslehoff as Michael Knight and his famous talking car "KITT".
This car was purchased locally in 2001 and completely rebuilt by 2006. Someone had done a shocking job of converting this to RHD and then got into trouble putting it together. It took over 900 hours to sort out the vehicle and get it back to it's present condition.
The one thing many people miss when restoring this type of vehicle is converting the floor pans. Unlike some other cars the passenger side floor is a different height to the drivers side and if not converted makes for a very uncomfortable driving position.
This car was stripped back to rolling chassis, sand blasted and then rebuilt with new 8 Cylinder 350 5.7L Chev custom built engine by Leigh Holman Special Vehicle Services. Autronic fuel management system/ECU. New rear diff, with upgraded disc brakes, all new upholstery, custom dash, new mag wheels, remote entry/central locking (including rear boot) with engine immobiliser and remote start via the Black widow branded system. Kenwood sound system with Amplifer. Airconditioning and power windows.
Has only done 9520kms since the rebuild. (less than 1000kms a year). Always garaged. Full documentation, photo history, receipts and maintenance history since purchase.
Targa tops fully removable. Everything in great working order.
You won't find a better built Trans-am in Australia.
*NB - I have owned this car for now 20 years. I have no need to sell it. At the time of listing this was the ONLY 1983 Transam listed on car-sales for sale in Australia. I know what i've spent on this, and i know what it is worth to ME. Please don't waste your time with lowball offers - as i simply won't respond.
