Alfa Romeo 166 – Busso 3.0 V6 | A Rare and Beautiful Grand Tourer
The Alfa Romeo 166 is a sleek and elegant executive saloon, powered by the legendary Busso 3.0 V6 — an engine widely regarded as one of the finest V6s ever built. Its power delivery is impossibly smooth, its response immediate, and its soundtrack a blend of creamy induction and rich exhaust notes that never becomes intrusive. It’s quiet when you want refinement, and intoxicating when you want theatre.
Despite its performance, the economy is surprisingly modern for a six‑cylinder, making it a genuinely usable grand tourer. On open country roads it settles into an effortless lope, drawing curious glances from other drivers who recognise they’re seeing something special.
The styling is pure Alfa: distinctive, elegant, and impossible to ignore. Finished in Proteo Red, it stands out in any car park. The interior is immaculate, with the rear seats barely used. It’s spacious, comfortable, and ready for a new owner to add their personal touches.
Recent maintenance includes:
Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres (only travelled 11000km)
Timing belt and water pump replaced
Recently serviced by Alfa specialist. Automatic gearbox serviced separately by auto specialists.
The only cosmetic note is a couple of small sun spots on the paint, easily corrected if desired.
With Alfa’s only other V6 now found in the high‑end Giulia Quadrifoglio, this 166 offers a rare chance to own and enjoy the most celebrated V6 in Alfa Romeo’s history — at a fraction of the cost.
A unique, soulful, and beautifully maintained example of a fast‑disappearing classic.
