This exceptionally well-presented 2001 Morgan 4/4 Lowline is a particularly rare and desirable example, combining classic Morgan character with a number of high-quality upgrades that make it considerably more enjoyable and practical to drive.
The Lowline is a special model, built on the wider Plus 8 chassis and distinguished by its wider wings and wheels compared with the standard 4/4. This example is finished in Royal Ivory, a beautiful creamy white, complemented by a rare Yarwood Biscuit leather interior, piped in cream. Brown carpets with cream edging provide a particularly attractive contrast.
The cabin is beautifully appointed, featuring a burr walnut dashboard and instrument panels set against cream leather, reclining and folding seats, and a choice of two steering wheels.
A modern Pioneer audio system provides USB connectivity, Bluetooth and hands-free phone functionality.
Power comes from the original 1.8-litre twin-cam Ford Zetec engine, producing approximately 111 bhp and 150 Nm of torque, coupled to a smooth five-speed Ford manual gearbox.
The combination is superbly suited to the Morgan. The Zetec engine is punchy and responsive, while the car's light weight and nimble handling make every drive an enjoyable experience.
One particularly worthwhile upgrade is the power steering, which makes a remarkable difference to low-speed manoeuvring and everyday drivability.
This Morgan had the benefit of a long-term, dedicated owner who drove it sparingly and invested in a number of thoughtful, high-quality improvements.
Among the upgrades is a Simmonds mohair "Easy-Up" hood, which is beautifully made, watertight, draft-free and designed for a snug fit. It is accompanied by a matching Simmonds mohair tonneau cover and Biscuit leather hood envelope.
The suspension has also been upgraded with front roller bearings and adjustable shock absorbers all round, enhancing both ride quality and handling. An aluminium radiator has been fitted, providing an important practical improvement for warmer conditions.
Externally, extensive stainless-steel detailing, including the mesh grille, full-width bumpers, door-mounted round mirrors, badge bar, luggage rack and front spot lamps.
The combination of the wider Lowline body, chrome wire wheels, stainless-steel detailing and classic Morgan proportions gives this car an unmistakable presence.
The car has recently undergone a full service, including the fitting of a new cambelt.
