“Additional “forward note” to this advert:-Took the RX8 for one of the regular runs to keep it in A1 condition (once per fortnight). I loved it but My old hip and now injured knee hated it -hence the new price”. Selling my much loved manual 2004 Mazda RX 8 Rotary (in excellent condition for age) with Qld personalised plates 0ZRX8 with the sub heading “Rotary Powered”. The rotary engines featured in the Mazda RX series were famous for the unusual way they delivered prodigious V8 power from 2 triangular rotors spinning up to 9000 plus revolutions per minute. The motors size enabled it to be positioned behind the front wheels giving the RX 8: the optimal motor vehicle balance for optimal handling 50/50.
It takes little imagination to realise that good examples of rotary powered cars are becoming increasingly collectable some now on sale for over $100,000.00. Rotaries appear in numerous famous computer game franchises including the “Gran Turismo series”, the “Forza series” and “The crew”.
I brought an RX8 consequent to owning a Mazda RX4 in “the day” some 44 years ago. When I brought it I did not realise the rotaries amazing features, sorry I parted with it.
As to why I brought this RX 8, when you drive one you will never forget the seat of the pants thrill described by Top Gears Jeremy Clarkson as the “best car he had driven all year”
As to my RX 8, it is in excellent condition, with new tyres, new battery, but most importantly, the car has recently had approx. $13500 spent for a rotary specialist to install a reconditioned motor and new clutch ( Receipt incl.) this new motor has only just now been “ run in”. Incl. new clutch Resume of items recently addressed...

21/05/20- Replaced catalytic converter and muffler
03/07/20- Replaced front disc brakes and rotors
16/11/20- New higher grade starter motor, ignition coils, battery, spark plugs & leads
12/04/22- Major Service & repair secondary valve (was throwing an error code)
23/02/23- Engine rebuild (seals, bearings and new clutch- all Gen 2)
12/03/23- Replaced roof moulding rails
30/08/23- LED light conversion
05/11/24- Replaced radiator and main water hoses
17/7/26- New Battery

The car has all the normal accessories listed for this car on Carsales plus I have installed a blue tooth device enabling hands free phone access together with music transmitted over the speaker system
Unique to this car is the number plate 0ZRX8 a plate expensive to buy but worth thousands to a RX8 collector. This will be included with the sale as they look great on the car.. notable is the offical special inscription on the plate “❤️ Rotary Powered”. Heart is not as big but is to scale with the print - looks great.
Detract the value to replace this plate ( if you could!) approx $3000 plus the $17,000.00 spent on the car detailed above, from the $22500 (original asking price,) you can see you are getting a great RX8 for very little when compared to the others available.The car as a whole has only just clicked over 125000km. having lived its life in a garage always being spoilt as you will see by the service receipts (included). The interior is immaculate. The car draws admirers wherever it goes. I brought it to collect but after recently cracking my pelvis, getting in and out of the car is hard. Hence sadly I list it here. Given the cars condition I calculated my original asking price based on what the car would cost you to buy with only 125k km with the personalised plates , engine rebuild and money spent etc. That was $23k I am now selling 4 less than money spent on it. A common sense bargain buy. By the by, if I detect you might be a time waster/joy rider, I won’t respond to you ( e.g low ball offers) nor will I sell it to you. Grab a bargain quick as I’m liable to change my mind. regards
