*IMPERFECTIONS - Hood-lining fell last week on C pillar. Organising to have it re-trimmed ASAP. Will have centre console bubbles fixed the same time the hood-lining is done. Car opened door into it the same week. Organising PDR ASAP.
A comprehensively maintained and carefully developed W211 E55 AMG built around a simple OEM+ philosophy.
The aim has been to enhance performance, response and reliability while retaining everything that makes the E55 special — its refinement, comfort, practicality and understated character.
This is a MY05 specification car incorporating the later production updates, including the 0580 supercharger revision, updated transmission with blue-top solenoids and other final production updates.

Mechanical
The engine was removed for extensive preventative maintenance, including timing chain and tensioner, front and rear crankshaft seals, timing cover and associated gaskets, water pump, oil-system seals, sensors, coils, belts, pulleys and other age-related components.
The supercharger system has also been comprehensively refreshed, retaining the later 0580 revision, with an enlarged 82 mm throttle body, matching intake components, K&N panel filters and upgraded cooling.
Cooling improvements include a larger heat exchanger and isolated supercharger cooling circuit.
Genuine Mercedes-Benz SLR injectors were professionally tested before installation and fitted with new seals.
The 722.6 transmission has received a comprehensive service including conductor plate, connector, filter, seals and associated valve-body components. The later MY05 blue-top solenoid specification is retained, with a carefully calibrated performance shift strategy.
Chassis & brakes
The suspension has been subtly developed to provide a more purposeful stance while retaining the factory Airmatic architecture.
The wheels have been professionally refurbished and are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres.
The braking system has been comprehensively refreshed with Brembo rotors, Pagid pads, replacement flexible brake hoses and fresh brake fluid. The calipers were detailed and ceramic coated.
Exterior & interior
The exterior has deliberately been kept subtle, creating a clean, understated OEM+ appearance rather than a heavily modified look.
The body, wheels, glass and exterior trim have been ceramic coated. The headlights have been comprehensively refurbished with projector upgrades while retaining an OEM-style appearance.
The interior remains largely factory, with a discreet Dynavin 8 Premium Flex upgrade providing Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and reversing camera.
The car
The E55 has received significant attention and praise at motor shows, where it has been displayed alongside some genuinely exceptional cars.
It is also a car that is ageing remarkably well. The W211’s understated proportions and clean design are increasingly being appreciated for their timeless elegance — particularly in an era of increasingly aggressive performance-car styling.
Few cars with this level of performance manage to combine such extraordinary capability with such an understated presence.
The result is an extensively sorted MY05 E55 AMG that improves upon the original without losing its character.
