Unveiled at the Melbourne Motor Show, the all new LW focus, now made in Germany, promises higher passive and active safety levels in a stronger, stiffer, lighter package. The base model Ambiente (hatch or sedan) starts out with a 92kW/159Nm, 6.2L/100km 1.6-litre petrol engine driving the front wheels through a five-speed manual (hatch only) or dual-clutch six-speed auto (standard on sedan). With head (shaped to reduce chest injuries for the driver), side and curtain airbags for all occupants, hill start assist and "Torque Vectoring Control" combined with ABS, stability control et al, it deservedly achieves a five-star ANCAP rating.
