Overview
Ford's Transit cab-chassis workhorse first came to Australia in the mid 1990s and today is available in single or crew cab form. Either of these are available with a 4.25-tonne Gross Vehicle Mass extended frame to carry longer loads. The powerplant is a 103kW 2.4-litre turbodiesel producing 375Nm of torque and driving the rear wheels though a six speed manual transmission. Standard equipment in cab-chassis Transits includes ABS braking, driver's airbag, air-conditioning, CD player, power front windows and power side mirrors. Front passenger and side airbags, and traction control, are optional in Transit cab-chassis.
