Overview
Ford's Transit has been a staple diet for commercial van users since the early 1970s. Today the Transit van comes in short, medium, long-wheelbase and jumbo versions with three roof heights and a choice of two engines. With its medium wheelbase of 3300mm and front wheel drive, the VM Low Roof is powered by a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel that develops 85kW/300Nm and returns 8.1L/100km through a manual six-speed. Payload is 7.44 cubic metres and/or 1011kg. Driver's airbag, ABS, air-conditioning, CD player, power windows and power side mirrors are standard, with front passenger airbag, side airbags and stability/traction control optional.
