Part of Mazda's highly successful and much lauded '3' line, the Maxx sedan is powered by a 2.0-litre DOHC S-VT four-cylinder petrol engine which produces 108kW/182Nm and returns a combined fuel economy of 7.9L/100km. Mazda's six-speed manual has been reconfigured for better power delivery and has up-graded synchros for smoother changes between first and second gear. The car comes standard with 15-inch alloys, cruise control and an MP3 compatible sound system. Safety features include six airbags, ABS stability/traction control (now standard across the range) and emergency brake assistance, adding up to a five-star ANCAP rating for the entire Mazda3 lineup.
