A 981 Boxster S with manual transmission delivered new by Porsche Centre Willoughby on 12 November 2012. I am the second owner of the car having purchased it as a Porsche Approved Vehicle from Porsche Centre Willougby in December 2015 when it had driven 5,170km and have had it serviced there each year since. It has now driven 46,981km, almost all of which has been out on the open road for longer weekend drives.
Key options on this stunning guards red (which has since exclusively become a Porsche paint to sample colour) Boxster S include:
- 20 inch Carrera S Wheels;
- Power sports seats (14 way);
- Heated Seats;
- Multi-function steering wheel;
- Aluminium package, including doors sills;
- Rollbar painted in aluminium look;
- Porsche crest on headrests;
- ParkAssist (front and rear)
At the time of my purchase, I had Porsche Centre Willougby fit the following additional options to make this naturally aspirated beauty even more driver focused:
- Switchable sports exhaust;
- X73 Sports Suspension, which lowers the car by 20mm compared to the standard suspension and significantly reduces body roll, stiffens front spring rates (roughly +20% over stock), and sharpens steering and cornering response while still allowing for a comfortable and compliant ride.
The original standard exhaust and suspension are also included with the sale.
The car has always been garaged and has been a trouble-free delight to own and enjoy. It is still covered under the EXTENDED FACTORY WARRANTY until November 2027.
It will be sad to see it go, but now I am married, it is time to let one of my manual transmission fun cars go (it was between this and my Porsche 993 so was a tough decision!) to make room for a Macan for my wife to drive and to which a future baby seat can be fitted!
With Porsche recently announcing that the next Boxster and Cayman will be EV only and that there will soon be a new top tier internal combustion 2 seater mid-engine Porsche above the 911 based on the Mission S concept car, I am sure the 981 with its glorious sounding naturally aspirated engine and this one with the superb 6 speed manual transmission will be a future classic, especially given that fewer were made than its 911 equivalent, the 991. It’s an awful lot of car for the money and a safe place to put it.
