Base 250 d versions get a 150kW/500Nm 2.1-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel while a 190kW/620Nm 3.0-litre V6 diesel powers the GL E 350 d. A 245kW/480Nm 3.0-litre petrol V6 powers the GL E 400 and the 270kW/520Nm GL E 450 AMG before passing the baton to the 320kW/700Nm 4.7-litre V8 GL E 500 and, at the top of the range, the 430kW/760Nm 5.5-litre V8 GL E 63 AMG.
