Overview
ALA49R Cruiser Wagon 5dr Spts Auto 6sp AWD 645kg 2.2DT (Sep) The RAV4 came to Australia in 1994 as a high-riding three-door AWD focussed on road, rather than off-road use. It appealed to those who were intimidated by the two-tonne-plus bush beasts. The RAV4 has softened and grown over the years; even a 2WD version is available. But it offers a big interior, capacious load capacity and competent on-road performance via a choice of three engines: a 110kW/340Nm 2.2-litre turbo-diesel, or two four-cylinder petrol engines displacing 2.0 litres or 2.5 litres and producing 107kW/187Nm and 132kW/233Nm respectively. Two six-speed transmissions are available " manual or an automatic " while the base 2.0-litre offers a CVT.
