Hyundai Australia has recalled almost 20,000 examples of its popular i30 small car, over a fuel pump issue that could cause affected vehicles to suddenly stall while driving.
Hyundai Australia has issued a nationwide recall notice for the popular i30 small car, specifically those built between 2020-2021.
The issue revolves around a faulty fuel pump in 18,634 examples of its best-selling passenger model – Hyundai says a manufacturing defect could cause the fuel pump impeller to become deformed and interrupt the fuel supply.
“If this occurs, the engine could stall resulting in a sudden loss of motive power” the brand said in the recall notice.
Hyundai will contact affected owners in writing, with a request to schedule an appointment as soon as possible to have the fuel pump impeller inspected and replaced where required, free of charge.
