Skoda has released details of its most expensive model in Australia, the Superb Sportline.
The Sportline builds on the existing 206TSI Superb variant already available within the Czech brand’s local line-up. It adds $1000 to the price of the existing 206TSI, but at $51,990 (plus on-road costs) in sedan form, represents significantly more value, according to stakeholders.
The newly-anointed flagship is distinguished by 17 trim changes inside and out, shared among sedan and wagon (a $1700 premium) variants.
From the exterior, there is new badging on the front fenders, black door mirrors, a black rear diffuser with chrome-twin exhausts, black rear spoiler on the sedan, black grille, black side strips and 19-inch anthracite alloys.
The black-heavy styling theme also transcends the interior, thanks to a Sportline dash cluster, sports seats with fake suede inserts, flat bottom steering wheel in perforated leather and silver stitching, decorative dashboard trim, aluminium pedal covers, a black head-liner and a customisable performance monitor (with lap timer) projected from the car’s eight-inch touchscreen.
The Sportline runs an unchanged 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine carried over from the 206TSI. Outputs remain at a healthy 206kW and 350Nm, the Sportline sending drive to all four wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Skoda says the Superb Sportline is capable of reaching triple figures in 5.8 seconds, while its fuel claim sits at 7.3L/100km in a mix of conditions.
The new model comes equipped with a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, a fixed servicing package and is offered with a guaranteed future value scheme.
The fixed price servicing package is available in three or five year allotments. Three years or 45,000km is priced at $1299, while five years or 75,000km is priced at $2650.
Skoda is also offering existing Tech ($3400) and Comfort Packs ($700) on the Sportline, comprising items such as a premium 12-speaker stereo and adaptive suspension.
Keep an eye out for our review of the Superb Sportline later this week.
