The Scorpion is back.
Fiat has confirmed its next-generation Abarth 595 is now available to order in Australia.
Boasting new equipment and added power from its diminutive 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder, the iconic Italian pocket rocket lands in showrooms from this month available in two grades.
The regular Abarth 595 is priced from $26,990 (plus on-road costs) and comes equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, an updated Uconnect infotainment system conveyed through a 5.0-inch touch-screen, Bluetooth, sat-nav and digital radio. Also new for 2018 is a 440-Watt Beats audio system comprising seven speakers.
The entry model’s 1.4-litre turbo-four generates 107kW of power (up 4kW) and sends drive to the front wheels via a manual transmission.
The flagship Abarth 595 Competizione is said to cater for “motoring enthusiasts”, priced from $31,990 plus on-road costs. Along with raised outputs of 132kW from the same engine, the flagship offers four-piston front Brembo brakes, 17-inch wheels Koni shock absorbers, a bi-modal exhaust system and quad tip outlets.
The racy theme continues inside, thanks to Sabelt sports seats and a carbon-fibre/Alcantara steering wheel.
The latest revisions coincide with a price drop of $510 on the entry car and $5010 on the Competizione.
