2018 Renault Clio RS revealed

Renault creates link between road car and race car

Renault has paid tribute to 40 years of Formula One involvement by unveiling a new limited-edition model, the Clio RS 18.

Distinguishing the special edition from the Clio RS EDC Trophy on which it is based, the RS 18 gets blacked-out wheels, a diffuser, special badging and black paint – an inverted take on Renault’s current F1 livery. Adorning the roof is a silver double-diamond decal next to a big RS badge.

The cosmetic tweaks are accompanied by lowered and stiffened suspension, front dampers with hydraulic compression stops, sharper steering and an Akropovic exhaust.

Inside, the RS 18 continues the racy theme, thanks to carbon fibre trims, an Alcantara/partial leather-wrapped steering wheel and special badging.

Under the bonnet resides a familiar 1.6-litre turbo-petrol tied to a six-speed dual clutch transmission. The engine produces a formidable 164kW and 280Nm on overboost, equating to a 0-100km time of 6.6 seconds.

The Clio RS 18 is slated for European delivery in the first half of the year. Like the donor car on which it is based, it is understood the RS 18 will not be coming to Australia.
