Holden has revealed details of a new limited edition Astra hatch on sale in Australia now: the Holden Astra RS Black Edition.
Priced from $27,490 drive away, the Astra RS Black Edition brings a $500 premium over the regular Astra RS donor car. It brings cosmetic enhancements inside and out, and is available until September 30.
The styling upgrades include a painted black roof, black 17-inch alloy wheels, black exterior grille and mirror caps, ‘Black Edition’ decals and badging, tinted windows and a black interior headliner.
Three colours are available: Absolute Red, Summit White and Nitrate Silver (the latter a $550 premium).
Those features are over and above those fitted to the regular Astra RS, the middling variant within the Holden Astra range: keyless entry and start, front and rear parking sensors and reversing camera, 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB+ digital radio and heated and powered folding side mirrors.
On the safety front the Holden Astra RS Black Edition incorporates blind-spot monitoring, autonomous emergency braking with forward collision warning, lane departure warning and lane keep assist.
The limited edition model employs a carryover 1.6-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder with 147kW and 280Nm outputs, the latter extending to 300Nm on overboost.
As before, drive is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission, while fuel consumption is rated at 6.3L/100km on the combined cycle.
The Holden Astra RS Black Edition is priced from $27,490 drive away.
Its arrival comes only weeks after Holden confirmed it would axe the Astra wagon and Astra sedan line-ups in Australia due to overseas plant closures and dwindling sales.
