2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit detailed

Jeep's 'most luxurious' Grand Cherokee yet priced from $85k

Jeep has introduced what it says is the most luxurious Grand Cherokee yet.

Priced from $84,450 (before on-road costs), the Grand Cherokee Summit sits above Jeep’s premium Overland model, bringing a host of extra equipment for an additional $4000 charge.

Powered by an updated 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine, the Summit offers power outputs of 184kW/570Nm and a braked towing capacity of 3500kg.

Paired to an eight-speed transmission with optional low range, the Summit also comes with a full-time Quadra-Drive II 4x4 transmission with five selectable driving modes, as well as a rear electronic limited slip differential.

It also comes with five selectable ride height positions thanks to Quadra-Lift air suspension.

Inside, Summit variants get a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with a 10-inch subwoofer, Active Noise Cancellation for back seat passengers and soft leather seating with superior breathability. The roof lining is finished in a suede-like material and illuminated door sill plates read ‘SUMMIT’.

Other creature comforts include heated seats (all round) and ventilated (up front) with 8-way power adjustments and 4-way lumbar control.

An 8.4-inch infotainment unit has smartphone mirroring as standard, while a host of active safety features on-board include adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking.

The Summit’s exterior has also been revamped, with a platinum chrome and gloss black grill and 20-inch alloy wheels, roof rails and badges all in platinum chrome. LED fog lights and dual trapezoidal exhaust tips are also standard.

Extra cost options available include rear seat Blu-Ray/DVD entertainment ($2950) and a ‘Signature Leather-Wrapped Interior Package’ ($9950) that adds quilted leather seats, leather wrapped upper and lower door panels and a leather wrapped centre console and glovebox.

The Summit goes one step further in providing the ultimate luxury a Grand Cherokee can offer, said Jeep’s Brand and Product strategy director, Guillaume Drelon.

“Without compromising Jeep legendary capabilities, Summit is providing an extra edge of adventure, bringing to market the best combination of on-road refinement, technology and comfort with best in class off-road capabilities,” he said.

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit is on sale now.
