MINI has revealed a facelifted version of its venerable Cooper – though you’d be hard pressed to spot the changes.
Headlined by a series of small tweaks best described as evolutionary, the 2019 three-door and five-door hatch and convertible sport a reworked front bumper and headlights, tail lights that integrate the Union Jack, new logos, wireless charging, revised steering wheel and a bigger touchscreen infotainment system inside.
As before, the MINI range will be available with a choice of a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine petrol and diesel engines and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol.
Engines are available with a choice of six-speed manual, seven-speed dual clutch automatic and eight-speed automatic transmissions.
MINI already offers a plug-in hybrid version of the Countryman in Europe and there are rumours the same driveline will soon be found in the regular Cooper. Down the track, MINI has also confirmed plans to launch a pure-electric version of its cult car known as the MINI Cooper E.
Australia prices and specifications for the 2019 Cooper will be revealed closer to the range’s local launch.
