The model year 2019 (MY19) Mitsubishi Outlander has been revealed, heralding mild visual updates inside and out for the five- and seven-seat family SUV.
Revised drive-away pricing has also been confirmed, delivering cost cuts on the entry-level model but price rises of between $1000 and $4000 for others compared to the manufacturers list prices.
See the price list below for the cost changes.
From the outside, the MY19 Mitsubishi Outlander gets an updated front fascia with a bit more detail in the lower bumper and refreshed grille elements. Like any automobile facelift, new-look alloy wheels will be part of the update, as are revised rear bumpers.
Inside, the updated Outlander models feature a new steering wheel and new infotainment buttons but given that Mitsubishi has not released an official details – only a website update – it's tricky to tell. It looks unlikely at this stage that it will get the touch-pad from the more advanced Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross five-seat SUV.
The MY19 Mitsubishi Outlander appears to soldier on with its 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality.
Mechanical changes are unlikely with the same trio of four-cylinder engines available for the facelifted model, starting with the entry-level 2.0-litre petrol engine (110kW/190Nm), the up-spec 2.4-litre petrol engine (124kW/220Nm), and 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine (110kW/360Nm).
Five-speed manual, automatic CVT transmissions and six-speed auto (the latter only for diesel models) are available in front- or all-wheel drive, as are five- and seven-seat configurations with seven colours on offer. The Mitsubishi Outlander model range will be maintained too, meaning ES, ES with safety pack (dubbed ADAS), LS and Exceed models.
There's also the range-topping plug-in hybrid version, but MY19 Outlander PHEV details have not yet been released.
Along with the drive-away pricing most models are being offered with $1000 worth of accessories for a limited time. Mitsubishi is having no trouble finding customers however, the Outlander finding 8154 buyers in the first six months of 2018. It's the brand's third most popular model, after the ASX and Pajero, and is the sixth most popular medium SUV in a tightly fought segment.
The Mazda CX-5 (13,847) still attracts the most Aussie buyers, followed by the Toyota RAV4 (11,770), Nissan X-TRAIL (10,524), Hyundai Tucson (10,280) and Honda CR-V (9042).
Mitsubishi is yet to officially confirm detailed specifications, which are expected next week. We'll update this story with the details so stay tuned.
