Toyota Australia has released details of the Kluger Black Edition, which goes on sale this month priced from $55,970 (plus on-road costs).
Essentially a prettied-up of the popular mid-range GXL, the Toyota Kluger Black Edition makes use of aptly-coloured styling appointments including 19-inch black alloy wheels, black roof rail accents, black headlight inserts and black lower side mouldings.
Designed to broaden the appeal of the Kluger, the special edition commands a $1020 premium over its donor car. Despite the black-centric theme, it is offered in eight different exterior colours.
Power comes courtesy of a familiar 3.5-litre V6 petrol good for 218kW and 350Nm, linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive comes standard (9.1L/100km fuel claim), while all-wheel drive (9.5L/100km) commands a $4000 premium.
The features list reads much like the regular GXL. Standard items comprise three-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, keyless entry and start, an 8.0-inch infotainment system with sat-nav and digital radio, rain-sensing wipers and ‘premium’ seat and door trims.
Toyota’s Safety Sense suite also gets a play, incorporating seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and a reversing camera.
The Kluger Black Edition is on sale now.
