2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross pricing revealed

Introduction of all-wheel drive headlines changes for 2020 model year

Mitsubishi Australia has announced pricing and specification details for the 2020 model year (MY20) Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, which goes on sale September 30.

Headlining the revisions for 2020 is the introduction of all-wheel drive to the range, a move Mitsubishi believes adds increased capability and safety to the range. There are also new styling and convenience features.

As before, there are four different model grades available: ES, LS, Exceed and Black Edition. Entry pricing goes unchanged at $29,990 (plus on-road costs) for the LS two-wheel drive.

The small SUV, which competes with the Mazda CX-3, Hyundai Kona and Toyota C-HR, is now available with Mitsubishi Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) all-wheel drive system.

“Mitsubishi’s S-AWC technology with Active Yaw Control (AYC) offers drivers predictable handling,” Mitsubishi says.

“AYC controls the brakes and power steering to regulate torque split between the left and right. This improves the car’s accuracy when tracing the chosen line through corners, in straight line driving, and lane change manoeuvres.”

Driven by a 110kW/250Nm 1.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder mated to a CVT automatic, the entry car starts at $29,990 plus on-road costs and is fitted with cloth seats, a 7.0-inch infotainment touch-screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Daytime Running Lights, reversing camera and 18-inch alloys wheels.

The AWD offerings begin from $34,490 for the mid-range LS, while Exceed variants bring leather seat trim and other luxuries for $36,690 (2WD) and $39,190 (4WD) respectively.

As part of the update, Exceed grades get revised front door trims with illumination and black interior headlining.
