Skoda has revealed more details of its forthcoming Superb wagon and sedan, which is due in Australian showrooms around October.
A fresh teaser video reveals the full-size duo will be available with LED matrix headlights technology.
It marks the first time Skoda has offered the system and follows in the wheel tracks of Skoda’s VW Group cousin, Audi, which debuted Matrix headlights on the flagship A8 back in 2014.
Skoda has already teased elements of the Superb in recent weeks, but new sketches show LED modules for high beam and low beam, plus additional LED strips for the indicators, daytime running lights and position lights.
In essence, the technology will allow the Superb to keep its lights on high beam without dazzling oncoming drivers. Instead, the system will be able to cast full light on the zones around other motorists, dimming light where needed to maintain vision.
At the rear, the Superb will feature LED fog lights and tail lights with sequential turn signals.
The 2020 Superb will be revealed on May 23 – rather fittingly, from the Ice Hockey World Championship held in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The facelifted model is expected to arrive in Australian showrooms around October with carryover powertrains and a new infotainment system debuting wireless Apple CarPlay for Skoda in Australia.
At this stage, it’s understood Skoda Australia will not be taking a plug-in hybrid version being offered in other markets.
