2020 Subaru Impreza pricing and spec announced

Small car gets nip and tuck, more tech and price increase to match

Subaru Australia has today announced pricing for its facelifted Subaru Impreza range, headlined by a refreshed look, revised suspension, more tech and extra features.

The Japanese brand’s small car gets a re-worked front bumper, fog light arrangement, grille and all-new alloy wheels. Each variant also gains automatic door locking and SI-Drive, allowing drivers to switch between Sport (S) and Intelligent (I) fuel-saving modes via a button on the steering wheel.

Updated suspension across the range purportedly delivers “even better ride comfort, steering response and handling agility”.

MY20 hatchback variants now feature a smoked-finish rear combination light design, while 2.0i-Premium and range-topping 2.0i-S models get a wider range of standard equipment.

The 2.0i-Premium variants now come with more driver assistance tech including blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, reverse automatic braking and front view monitor.

Flagship variants now come equipped with updated LED headlights, auto folding door mirrors with auto dipping for passenger side, front and side view monitors, memory for the driver’s seat, piano black surround for climate control and a stitched visor for the infotainment screen.

Every Impreza continues to be powered by Subaru’s 115kW/196Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, paired to a CVT auto that sends its power to all four wheels.

Eventually, we may also see a hybrid e-Boxer Impreza here too, although Subaru Australia’s managing director, Colin Christie, told carsales.com.au this week that a Corolla Hybrid-rivalling model would depend on the success of the new e-Boxer Forester and XV models.
