The battery-electric 2023 Fisker Ocean SUV has achieved a WLTP-verified driving range of up to 707km, ahead of sales beginning in Europe next month.
Said to have exceeded the Californian brand’s own estimate, the maximum range applies to the range-topping Fisker Ocean Extreme that comes equipped with a 105kWh ‘Hyper Range Battery’ that combines with an impressive 410kW dual-motor powertrain.
Official WLTP range figures have yet to be announced for the lower-spec 403kW Ocean Ultra and entry-level single-motor 205kW Ocean Sport.
Up until now, the BMW iX xDrive50, which uses a 111kWh battery pack, enjoyed bragging rights for the longest SUV range with its ability to cover up to 612km between top-ups.
The best-selling Tesla Model Y doesn’t come close, offering up to 563km.
Assembling the Ocean at a Magna Steyr factory in Graz, Austria, Fisker hopes to produce up to 42,000 vehicles this year.
Magna Steyr already produces the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, BMW 5 Series, Jaguar E-PACE and all-electric I-PACE, plus the BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra.
If you’re wondering which car in Europe has the best WLTP-verified range overall, the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ is the current champion, covering up to 729km between recharges, thanks to its low-drag aerodynamics and big 107.8kWh battery.
