2023 Genesis GV60 tech upgrade brings $4000 price hike

Genesis Australia has added $4000 to the asking price of the 2023 Genesis GV60 with the addition of new standard tech features including Face Connect, Fingerprint Start, Virtual Gear Shift, Genesis Connected Services (GCS) and over-the-air (OTA) updates.

The two-variant Genesis GV60 range now starts from $107,700 plus on-road costs in base AWD guise and $114,700 in flagship Performance AWD form.

The 2023 upgrades were flagged back in December, when the updated model was detailed for the European market.

However, at the time there was no confirmation that the advanced tech such as facial and fingerprint recognition systems would be available in Australia.

Fast forward six months and the tech has been given the green light, with Face Connect utilising an infrared camera in the driver’s door trim to recognise the driver, unlock the vehicle and dial up their preferred cabin settings.

The system can also lock the vehicle with the keys inside to no detriment, while the Fingerprint Start rules out the need for a physical key all together.

At the top of the range, the Genesis GV60 Performance AWD is the first Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) car to offer the new Virtual Gear Shift as seen in the Hyundai RN22e rolling lab.

The system mimics an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with simulated gear changes via the steering wheel-mounted paddles to add a higher level of involvement to the flagship GV60’s driving experience as HMG advances its EV performance technology.

The 2023 GV60 is the first Genesis model to be offered with connected services, providing customers with various new vehicles features and functions on top of remote vehicle monitoring.

In-vehicle features include automatic collision notification, SOS emergency call function, connected routing for live traffic, valet mode, voice control, calendar integration, weather forecasting and vehicle diagnostics.

The smartphone app also comes with Hyundai Bluelink and a few bonus functions like SVM-linked vehicle surroundings display.

Other changes to the battery-electric luxury SUV include enhanced ambient lighting for the foot well, variant-specific rear brake calliper covers, air purification mode for the climate control and side airbags for the rear seats.

In the GV60’s colour palette, Capri Blue Mica has replaced Adriatic Blue Mica, while Makalu Grey Metallic is now available instead of Himalayan Grey Metallic and Melbourne Grey Matte. Sao Paulo Lime has also been deleted.
