2023 Mazda CX-8 pricing and specs

Fresh looks, improved tech and more equipment for Mazda CX-8 family SUV, but prices rise too

Full details for the new-look 2023 Mazda CX-8 have been revealed today, with prices rising by up to $1550 across the updated family SUV range that goes on sale from March.

Available in six- or seven-seat configuration, the large SUV range spans six model grades, opening with the Mazda CX-8 Sport FWD petrol at $42,060 plus on-road costs, which is $1450 pricier than its predecessor.

See our full price list below, but the GT SP FWD petrol and AWD diesel models have both copped a $1550 increase (over the previous GT) to now start at $58,560 and $65,560 plus ORCs respectively, while at the top of the range the Asaki LE AWD diesel with twin second-row captain’s chairs is $1400 more expensive at $71,410 plus ORCs.

As previously reported, the new 2023 Mazda CX-8 comes equipped with twin digital screens across the range, with the larger 10.25-inch central touch-screen and 7.0-inch digital driver’s display previously only available on Asaki models.

New USB-C ports are added up front for faster device charging, along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a remote window opening function operated via the key fob.

There’s also a new exterior colour, Rhodium White.

Underneath, Mazda has updated the suspension with redesigned coil springs and front dampers “to enhance manoeuvrability and offer improved onboard comfort for the whole family”.

The company also says the new 2023 Mazda CX-8 has a quieter cabin too, thanks to measures that reduce NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) levels.

The mid-spec Touring SP Black Edition has been replaced by the Touring Active, and like the Mazda CX-5 mid-size SUV range the GT version has been substituted by the GT SP, which inherits most of the black-pack elements from the retired Touring SP.

There’s no sign of the turbo-petrol engine offered in the CX-5, meaning the CX-8 will soldier on with its non-turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine (140kW/252Nm), which is mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission and is front-wheel drive.

To get all-wheel drive, CX-8 buyers must choose the 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel (140kW/450Nm), which is also paired to a six-speed auto.

Mazda Australia executives have previously stated that the CX-8 update will “ensure it’s a hit with Aussie buyers for years to come”, which suggests the CX-8 will be sold alongside the incoming Mazda CX-80 that will feature a higher specification and six-cylinder power.
