Just a week after confirming new variants for the incoming 2024 Ford Transit Custom van range, Ford Australia has doubled down and announced that it will also launch the related Tourneo people-mover here later this year.
Set to arrive in the fourth quarter, the 2024 Ford Tourneo is the passenger version of the Transit Custom LWB van, seating up to eight occupants and to be offered in two variants in our market.
These are the entry-level Ford Tourneo Active, which is priced at $65,990 plus on-road costs, and the fully-loaded Ford Tourneo Titanium X, which starts from $70,990 plus ORCs.
That makes them significantly more expensive than the two top-selling people-movers in Australia, the Kia Carnival (from $47,480 to $67,580) and Hyundai Staria (from $49,000 to $67,000).
The Tourneo will be powered by the same 120kW/390Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine as found in the Transit Custom van, driving the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Maximum braked towing capacity is 2500kg.
Standard equipment highlights on the Active include 17-inch alloy wheels, powered side doors, LED exterior lighting, heated driver and front passenger seats, keyless start, tri-zone climate control, a 13-inch infotainment system, smartphone mirroring, 5G embedded modem, sat-nav and wireless phone charging.
A flexible track-based seating system for the second and third rows is also fitted, allowing the seats to move fore-aft and, with the second-row seat portions, rotate to face rearward “for a conference layout”.
The centre position in row two can also be folded into a small table with cup holders, while all six rear seats can be removed completely.
ISOFIX child restraint anchorage points are included on both the second and third row.
The Titanium X ups the ante with unique 17-inch ‘premium’ alloys, a fixed glass panoramic roof, Sensico artificial leather trim, power-adjustable front seats, a premium B&O audio system and a 360-degree camera.
Both variants come with six airbags, pre-collision assist with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and intersection assist, front and rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, lane keeping system and adaptive cruise control.
Frozen White is the default colour choice but for an extra $700 customers will be able to specify Agate Black, Magnetic, Moondust Silver, Blue Metallic or Grey Matter ‘prestige’ finishes. Active buyers also have access to an Artisan Red option.
The only other optional extra is a set of 19-inch alloys for the Titanium X, which will set buyers back another $1000.
As per the Transit Custom, the 2024 Ford Tourneo will be backed by Ford’s standard five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.
