2024 Kia Sorento prices rise by more than $3000
More tech and equipment but same engines and much higher prices for Kia’s facelifted family SUVThe 2024 Kia Sorento has begun rolling into showrooms to challenge the Toyota Kluger and other family SUVs with a chiselled new look, infotainment upgrades via bigger digital screens and plenty of new features.
But prices have risen across the range by up to $3520.
Australia’s reigning Best Family SUV is offered in four different model grades with carryover engines, meaning a 3.5-litre V6 petrol or a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel will initially be on the menu, followed by hybrid powertrains at a later date.
The most affordable version of the updated seven-seat family hauler is the 2024 Kia Sorento S petrol V6 2WD, which now costs $3030 more than before at $50,680 plus on-road costs.
At the top of the tree is the 2024 Kia Sorento GT-Line diesel AWD priced at $68,590 plus ORCs (+$3520).
Top-spec hybrid models are tipped to top out at around $73,000 plus ORCs, but it’s unclear if the flagship plug-in hybrid Sorento – currently listed at an eye-watering $81,080 before on-road costs – will return to active duty in 2024.

Ever since the facelifted Kia Sorento was leaked in mid-2023, dealers have been taking orders for the new model and now the first vehicles are being delivered to customers, who will benefit from an upgraded interior as well as the new-look headlights and front apron.
All models, even the entry-level Sorento S, have ditched their 10.25-inch central touch-screen for a new 12.3-inch unit that can download software patches via over-the-air (OTA) updates.
Most variants come with a small 4.2-inch digital instrument display for trip computer functions, but top-spec GT-Line models add a second 12.3-inch digital display that together with the central touch-screen sits behind one large curved pane of glass.
Flagship 2024 Kia Sorento GT-Line variants also get upgraded software along with wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay.
New details published on Kia Australia’s website also confirm that GT-Line models get a head-up display and an all-new digital rear-view mirror.
See below for the full equipment list across the range, but headline items for all models include push-button engine start, body-coloured door handles, shift-by-wire steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, tyre pressure monitoring and USB-C ports for faster device charging.
Eight exterior colours are available.
The cheaper 3.5-litre V6 petrol (200kW/332Nm) models drive the front wheels only via an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. The more expensive 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel (148kW/440Nm) versions are exclusively AWD and pump through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Like all Kia vehicles sold Down Under, the suspension has been calibrated in Australia and a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty is attached.
The Kia Sorento was the sixth best-selling large SUV in Australia in 2023, amassing 8366 sales behind the Toyota Kluger (10,430), Subaru Outback (12,903), Isuzu MU-X (14,139), Ford Everest (15,071) and dominant Toyota Prado (20,710).
