Packing electrified four-cylinder powertrains under the bonnet, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe and 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S E Performance both offer exactly the same outputs as their wagon siblings, with the former’s mild-hybrid system developing a combined 310kW/500Nm while the latter’s plug-in system churns out 500kW/1020Nm.
The dynamic duo can be picked out from their non-AMG peers on account of their myriad aggressive design cues, including unique front and rear aprons with swollen intakes and enlarged air intakes, AMG-specific grille, side skirts and alloy wheels, plus quad exhaust exits and ultra-wide tyres.

The coupe body shape’s sleeker roofline adds an extra layer of drama to the package and should liberate an extra couple of kilometres from the GLC 63’s electric driving range, however, a concrete figure hasn’t yet been provided.
Helping the AMG CLC Coupes harness all their firepower and back up their angry exterior designs is the AMG Ride Control adaptive suspension system and up to eight drive modes (five for the 43), within which is the AMG Dynamics system that lets drivers finetune myriad handling aids, including the rear axle steering system.
Counteracting all the go-power in the GLC 43 Coupe is a performance braking package featuring four-piston front callipers and floating single-piston rears acting on 370x36mm and 360x26mm ventilated and perforated discs respectively.

The 63 S E Performance meantime ups the ante with a carbon-ceramic set-up comprising six-pot front callipers acting on 390x36mm discs, while the single-pot floating rear units grab 370x26mm discs.
AMG has a penchant for athletic interiors with a sense of occasion and the same is true here with both hot GLC Coupe cabins awash with Artico synthetic leather and AMG microfibre upholstery, not to mention the AMG Performance steering wheel, sports pedals, floor mats and illuminated door sills.
The digital instrument cluster and vertically oriented MBUX infotainment screen each brandish AMG-specific displays and graphics, including the exclusive ‘Supersport’ layout to add an extra special something to the drive experience.

The bad news is it will be at least 12 months before the new Mercedes-AMG GLC Coupes arrive Down Under – in the fourth quarter of 2024, following the local release of the new Mercedes-AMG GLC wagons earlier next year.
