2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 City Edition arrives
New cut-price special-edition compact luxury SUV adds more style for less cash, but sheds a few toysA new Mercedes-Benz GLA special-edition has joined the facelifted small premium SUV range and it follows a similar MO to the recently announced Mercedes-AMG C 43 Edition R limited-edition sedan.
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 City Edition is priced significantly lower than the standard GLA 200 at $66,900 drive-away until September 30, after which it will default to $63,900 plus on-road costs – $6000 less than its donor model.
The City Edition is primarily defined by its ‘Progressive Line’ exterior treatment (lots of chrome) and increased ride height, which serve to make it look grander on city streets.
However, its standard equipment list has been trimmed compared to the standard GLA 200 in order to meet its reduced price point.
Headline inclusions comprise a panoramic glass sunroof, heated and power-adjustable front seats with memory function, keyless entry and start, powered tailgate, Parking Package, 64-colour ambient lighting, MBUX infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, smartphone mirroring, dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charging and sat-nav.
The whole package rolls on edition-specific 18-inch alloy wheels and the raised suspension is equipped with passive dampers.
Safety and driver aid highlights include autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, active lane keeping assist, traffic sign assist, blind spot assist with exit warning function, active parking assist with self-parking capability and adaptive LED headlights.
No changes have been made to the GLA 200’s 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, which continues to offer up 120kW/250Nm and drive the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Available to order from today (July 23), the Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 City Edition is covered by the German auto brand’s five-year/unlimited-km warranty.
