2024 Peugeot 2008 arrives Down Under

Facelifted small SUV sharpens up in petrol form; EV set to come later

The updated 2024 Peugeot 2008 compact SUV has arrived Down Under wearing a new face and bringing more technology and an opening price of $39,990 plus on-road costs.

That new starting price is just over $1000 higher than the current model’s and can largely be attributed to the 2008’s new upgraded 10-inch infotainment system, which offers faster response times, crisper graphics and ‘while you wait’ games including ‘TicTacToe’, ‘HangMan’ and ‘2048’.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now wireless, most of the USB ports have been converted to USB-C and the 10-inch i-Cockpit digital instrument cluster has been refreshed with new graphics.

Other new inclusions comprise front parking sensors, close-obstacle detection and optional connected services.

As before, the two-pronged internal combustion line-up – Allure and GT – features a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine outputting 96kW/230Nm and an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard, sending power to the front wheels.

Headline standard equipment on the base Allure includes all of the aforementioned tech, as well as Bluetooth, keyless entry/start, leather-accented upholstery, climate control, LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and tyre pressure monitoring.

The higher-spec GT (from $44,490) adds wireless phone charging, eight-colour ambient lighting, adaptive cruise control, heated and massaging front seats, Alcantara and leather upholstery, a power adjustable driver’s seat, 3D-effect sat-nav and a configurable i-Cockpit with 3D effect.

Optionally available for the GT is a $2500 ‘Style Pack’, which adds a sunroof and black 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Customers waiting for the updated e-2008 will be disappointed to read the electric version is still a while off from our shores; Peugeot Australia specifically said the EV flagship is “set to arrive at a later date, with more information to be shared in due course”.

“Customers who are looking for an electric 2008 SUV don’t need to wait, with the current E-2008 available in Peugeot retailers nationwide now,” the brand said.

How much does the 2024 Peugeot 2008 cost?
Allure – $39,990 (+$1045)
GT – $44,490 (+$1093)
e-2008 – $59,990
* Prices exclude on-road costs
