2024 Renault Arkana gets a new face

And it will be backed by three all-new variant nameplates when it arrives sometime next year

Hybrid power is coming to the local Renault Arkana line-up next year, when the facelifted small SUV ‘coupe’ arrives Down Under offering sharper styling, more tech and better fuel economy.

The 2024 Arkana debuted late last week with a sporty new front-end design, new logo, matching wheels and the inclusion of a 108kW 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain paired to a multi-mode clutchless transmission – similar to the one used in the flagship Renault Rafale.

Renault claims the system will cut fuel consumption by up to 40 per cent compared to the petrol powertrain, lowering CO2 emission to 105g/km.

Renault Australia has already confirmed the Arkana hybrid will “likely” be offered here alongside the familiar 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Today it also confirmed the range would continue to comprise three model grades – as per the current Arkana portfolio – however, the Zen, Intens and RS Line nameplates will almost certainly be swapped out for Evolution, Techno and Esprit Alpine nomenclatures, the latter of which will serve as the sports-themed flagship as per the wider rebranding of Renault Sport to Alpine.

This variant will wear a more aggressive front fascia and body kit compared to the lesser grades and will come with a combination of Eco Tep and imitation suede upholsteries, contrasted against blue stitching and seatbelt stripes.

The line-up’s streamlining should result in an improvement in standard equipment for all grades, with one particular global highlight being the addition of wireless smartphone mirroring on the base grade.

Other local launch details for the updated Arkana are still pending at this stage, but Renault Australia has pledged to release the relevant information “in due course”.
