2026 Renault Arkana goes mild hybrid

Renault Australia has released its updated 2026 Arkana small SUV, which now features a mild hybrid version of the familiar 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, complemented by a new calibration for the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The addition of a 12-volt mild hybrid system has subtly increased the Arkana’s outputs from 115kW/262Nm to 116kW/270Nm, all of which is sent to the front wheels by the aforementioned seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission – which has been recalibrated for extra smoothness.

Interestingly, the electric assist hasn’t delivered any improvements to the compact coupe-SUV’s claimed fuel consumption seeing as it’ll still use 5.9L/100km on the combined cycle.

Pricing for the updated range opens from $41,990 plus on-road costs, marking a $500 increase over the outgoing Techno while the top-spec Esprit Alpine remains steady at $45,990.

All of the headline equipment on both variants has been carried over, meaning Techno customers still get LED exterior lighting, a 9.3-inch infotainment system housing wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, sat-nav and Bluetooth, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, heated and power-adjustable front seats, 18-inch alloys, a powered tailgate and more.

The Esprit Alpine meantime nabs a Bose sound system, suede-style upholstery, 19-inch wheels, a sports body kit, sunroof, a heated steering wheel, darkened roof lining and a few other luxe goodies.

The updated Renault Arkana is in showrooms now backed by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.
