2024 Skoda Kamiq Run-Out goes big on value

There’s an upgraded 2024 Skoda Kamiq coming to Australia around mid-2024, but before then Skoda Australia will double down on its value onslaught with a new entry-level variant of the small Czech SUV that slashes $5000 off the drive-away price.

Dubbed the 2024 Skoda Kamiq Run-Out, the new entry-level variant is priced from $32,990 drive-away and will arrive Down Under in the second quarter of next year – shortly before the facelifted Kamiq lands in local showrooms – featuring all the same mechanicals and most of the equipment found in the current Style.

Headline gear on the new base model, which enters production in the first quarter of next year and is available to order now, includes LED exterior and ambient lighting, rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, keyless entry/start, power folding door mirrors, driver’s auto-dimming mirror, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 8.0-inch infotainment system, smartphone mirroring, four USB-C ports and an eight-speaker sound system.

The usual Skoda toys including a door umbrella, ticket holder, clothes hooks, shopping bag hooks and an integrated funnel in the windscreen washer reservoir are all still present, as are 17-inch alloy wheels, seven airbags, reversing camera, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, front assist, lane assist and side assist with rear traffic alert.

Black roof rails round out the package and help mark the Run-Out apart from its more expensive Style stablemate.

Under the bonnet is the familiar 1.0-litre turbo-petrol triple as seen in the Style, outputting 85kW/200Nm and driving the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Fuel consumption is rated at 5.6L/100km on the combined cycle.

“We have seen competitors persist with inefficient naturally aspirated engines and plastic steering wheels in entry models, however we find that our customers typically want more,” said Skoda Australia head of marketing and product Kieran Merrigan.

“The Kamiq Run-Out perfectly combines high specification with amazing ownership for a more attainable price.”

The Kamiq Run-Out will be available with just two optional extras: coloured paint ($550) and a seven-year/105,000km service pack ($2900).
