A social media leak out of South Korea has apparently outed the major upgrades set to be applied to the updated 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance, including a significantly more powerful rear motor and altered power outputs.
According to an X post by user ‘eivissacopter’ the upgraded Model 3 Performance will bring a 158kW front motor and a new 303kW rear unit, amounting to a theoretical combined output of 461kW, however, a multi-motor EV’s total power figure is rarely a simple case of addition.
Tesla in particular can be cagey about a vehicle’s actual outputs and battery capacity, but the old version was good for somewhere around 385kW – something the new model will still undoubtedly improve on, given brand executives admitted leaving a few cards on the table with the previous Model 3 Performance.
Based on this #Model3 #Performance leak from South Korea...

- Weight unchanged from previous LG M3P.
- 355V Nominal Voltage -> LG battery pack!
- 3D3 158kW front motor -> no change!
- 4D2 303kW (new!) -> Performance motors reached peak power at 70-75kph, this one peaks at 110kph! pic.twitter.com/1HMMK32XKJ
The data shown in the social media post is allegedly taken from the South Korean Ministry of Environment and even references the speed at which the new rear motor develops peak power: 110km/h instead of the previous 70-75km/h, which should mean the extra firepower can be deployed more effectively at higher speeds.
All this extra performance will be paired with sleek new exterior and interior designs as previewed by other facelifted 2024 tesla Model 3 variants, the former improving the mid-size electric sedan’s drag coefficient and liberating an extra 22km of range on the standard versions.
Other changes will include new operating software, reworked chassis components and some minor NVH improvements courtesy of ‘360-degree acoustic glass technology’ and extra sound-proofing.
It shouldn’t be too long before we see the actual vehicle in an official capacity since the leak suggests the Model 3 Performance is now being homologated for Korea, meaning the emergence of Australian Design Rule certification data is likely to be published within the coming weeks.
Tesla previously promised its new hero sedan would be shown in “early 2024” and we’re now nearing mid-March.
Pricing should start around the $85,000-$90,000 mark, based on the price tags of the lesser variants MY24 Model 3 ($61,900-$71,900 plus on-road costs) and current asking price of the Model Y Performance ($91,400 plus ORCs)
