The upgraded 2024 Volkswagen T-Cross will be priced from $34,990 drive-away when the facelifted light SUV arrives here in July – two months ahead of schedule.
While it may be a promotional rather than permanent figure, the entry-level Life variant’s sub-$35K drive-away price will save buyers several thousands of dollars compared to its list price of $33,990 plus on-road costs, which is nonetheless $3000 higher than the pre-facelifted T-Cross Life price.
The mid-range Style, meantime, will cost $37,490 plus ORCs (also up $3000), while the new R-Line flagship has been priced at $40,990 plus ORCs, making it the first time the German brand’s smallest SUV has eclipsed the $40K barrier before options.
The extra outlay brings buyers refreshed exterior and interior designs, improved cabin materials and a new-generation infotainment system.
Headline equipment for the base Life grade includes a digital instrument cluster, 8.0-inch infotainment display, DAB+ digital radio, wireless smartphone charging, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, synthetic leather upholstery, automatic LED headlights, power-folding door mirrors and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Standard safety and driver-aid highlights include front assist (AEB), lane assist, adaptive cruise control, travel assist, side assist, rear traffic alert, park assist, proactive passenger protection and a reversing camera.
The T-Cross Style comes with all of this as well as IQ.Light Matrix LED headlights, 17-inch alloys, chrome roof rails, an illuminated grille strip, keyless access, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate-control air-conditioning, discover media navigation system, digital cockpit pro, wireless app-connect and voice control.
At the top of the tree, the inaugural R-Line flagship adds a sportier bodykit and 18-inch alloys, R-Line interior treatment, multiple drive modes, dark tinted side and rear window glass and a Beats premium audio system.
Options are few and far between this time around, extending only to metallic or pearl effect paint ($600) for the Life and Style, plus the R-Line-exclusive Kings Red Metallic hue ($900).
All grades are powered by an unchanged 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine outputting 85kW/200Nm and driving the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
