2025 Audi A5 portfolio is mainly S5s
Four Audi S5 variants and just one A5 headed Down Under to kick-off the new generationThe all-new 2025 Audi A5 has been priced from $79,900 plus on-road costs, marking a hefty $8000 increase over the outbound A4 it replaces.
What’s more, four of the five-variant launch line-up carry S5 badging, though more subdued versions will inevitably be added to the mix at a later date, including the plug-in e-hybrid quattro.
Until then, the Australian A5/S5 line-up comprises the entry-level and eponymous A5 sedan, the S5 Edition One ($99,900), S5 ($114,900), S5 Avant Edition One ($102,900) and S5 Avant ($117,900).
Powering the base model is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine outputting 150kW/340Nm, all of which is harnessed by a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and sent to the front wheels.
Headline appointments include 19-inch alloys, S-Line exterior treatment, heated and power-adjustable sport seats with memory functionality for the driver, three-zone climate control, a 14.5-inch infotainment interface, 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit, ambient lighting, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, Matrix LEDs, auto-dimming mirrors with memory function and adaptive cruise control.
The S5s meantime predictably up the ante with a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine and quattro all-wheel drive, the former developing 270kW/550Nm and the latter helping launch the mid-sized sedan and wagon from 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds.
Standard to the full-time variants are 20-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels, red brake calipers, adaptive sport suspension, Matrix LED headlights, Nappa leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats with massage function, heated rear outer seats and steering wheel, a head-up display, colour ambient lighting, a Bang & Olufsen sound system and a 10.9-inch MMI display for the front passenger, plus everything else included on the A5.
The limited-run S5 Edition Ones meantime feature unique exterior styling cues (exclusive black 19-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels, red brakes, black exterior styling package), Matrix LED headlights, heated and power-adjustable front seats, Dinamica and leather combination upholstery, stainless steel pedals, a flat-top and bottom multifunction sport steering wheel, ambient interior lighting, and Dinamica microfiber accents.
Sedans and Avants share the same specification across the range while all new-generation A5/S5s ride on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture and come with mild-hybrid assistance.
