2025 Cupra Tavascan: Fresh Australian details surface

The 2025 Cupra Tavascan will be offered Down Under in two distinct flavours: Endurance and VZ, with pricing set to start just north of the current Formentor VZx ($65,790 plus ORCs).

That will pitch the Spanish performance EV some $10,000 upstream of the Tesla Model Y it’s hoping to compete with, however both grades will still fall under the Luxury Car Tax threshold and qualify for the Federal Government’s Electric Car Discount.

Due here in December, Aussie Tavascans will be sourced from China – like the Model Y – and offer the classic array of single- and dual-motor powertrains.

The Endurance will feature the former option and output 210kW/545Nm, drawing current from a 77kWh battery pack which provides it with a claimed range of up to 534km.

The dual-motor Tavascan VZ meantime features the same battery pack but ups the output game to 250kW/545N, yielding a claimed 0-100km/h time of 5.5 seconds and a range of up to 499km.

Both versions can be recharged at up to 135kW when using DC power, something that provides a 10-80 per cent charge in “less than 30 minutes”, or 100km of range in seven minutes.

AC charging can be done at up to 11kW.

Specification highlights on the Endurance include a 15-inch infotainment system, regenerative braking paddles, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, illuminated rear Cupra lettering, a gesture-opening tailgate, three-zone climate control and sports seats.

An optional ‘Interior Pack’ for the Endurance adds 20-inch alloy wheels, a 360-degree surround camera view, power-adjustable and heated front seats with memory function, a premium Sennheiser sound system, ambient lighting and a ‘Dark Night’ blue interior.

The flagship VZ version gets the Interior Pack as standard as well as 21-inch black and copper wheels, Matrix LED headlamps and a fixed sunroof with powered blind.

An optional ‘Extreme Pack’ will also be available for the VZ, adding ventilated leather Cup Racing bucket seats and stickier tyres.
