The 2025 Honda Civic Type R is now $4900 more expensive following the announcement that a new batch of the hot hatch is available to order priced from $79,000 drive-away.
Honda Australia hasn't confirmed how many Honda Civic Type Rs it will bring in, but the local outfit says it will prioritise customers who have already registered their interest online.
Carrying over unchanged, Honda says the only update to the new MY25 Civic Type R is Pearl joining the colour palette.
It replaces Rally Red and will be offered alongside Championship White, Crystal Black and Sonic Grey.
Australians will also be offered a new carbon-fibre front spoiler that is priced at $5300.
No other specification changes have been confirmed for the 2025 production run.
That means the Civic Type R remains powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 235kW and 420Nm of torque combined only with a six-speed manual transmission that spins up the front wheels.
Standard equipment for the fast Honda includes adaptive dampers, Brembo brakes, a sports exhaust, auto LED headlamps, wireless phone charger, a 9.0-inch infotainment screen, that works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and lane-keep assist.
Sadly, Honda Australia has declined to announce just how many cars it will offer to customers Down Under.
Originally, when the order book opened in 2023 for the FL5 Civic Type R, demand was overwhelming, with more than 18 months of allocation selling out in less than 24 hours.
Expect demand to once again outstrip supply, with Honda confirming it will use a first-come, first-served sales system.
Following the price rise, the 2025 Honda Civic Type R is now more expensive than a Toyota GR Corolla (from $67,990 plus on-roads) and the Volkswagen Golf R ($70,990 plus ORCs).
Like all other new Hondas, the new Civic Type R comes standard with a five-year unlimited kilometre warranty, five-year roadside assistance and five years scheduled servicing that only cost $199 a pop.
