Pricing and specification details of the inbound 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe petrol have appeared online, with three variants set to be released in the coming weeks priced from $53,000 plus on-road costs.
According to new data published by Redbook, the variants in question are the eponymous base Santa Fe, Santa Fe AWD and Elite AWD, the latter two retailing from $56,000 and $62,500 respectively.
The petrols’ imminent arrival means the Santa Fe line-up is about to become $2500 more accessible across two of the three trim levels, albeit at the expense of fuel economy since the petrol versions all use a claimed 9.3L of fuel per 100km on the combined cycle compared to the hybrids’ 5.6L/100km.
But while the hybrids win the efficiency game, the petrols will have the performance edge since their Sonata-sourced 2.5-litre turbo-four is good for 206kW/422Nm and drives the wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission – vs 172kW/367Nm and a six-speed torque converter.
As one might expect, the petrol Santa Fes match their hybrid counterparts on the equipment front save for the lack of hybrid-specific displays and functions like regenerative braking.
Headline gear in the base model therefore includes cloth upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual 12.3-inch displays, dual-zone climate control, 20-inch alloy wheels, smartphone mirroring, a six-speaker sound system, wireless charging pad, powered tailgate and LED exterior lighting.
The AWD adds three multi-terrain modes – Sand, Mud, Snow – and an accompanying torque-split display on the digital cockpit.
The Elite meantime comes with a Bose premium sound system, leather-appointed seats, dual wireless charging pad, power-adjustable passenger seat, a heated steering wheel, Bluelink connected car services and rear privacy glass.
Every Santa Fe variant, including the front-drive versions, will be optionally available with the locally-developed XRT off-road packages which add more aggressive wheels and tyres, new springs, dampers and hubs, a skid plate and mud flaps at the very least.
carsales understands there are no plans to offer a sporty N-Line pack like the ones available on the smaller Tucson and Kona SUVs.
An official announcement from Hyundai on the arrival of the petrol Santa Fe variants should be made within the next few days, with the first vehicles expected in showrooms by Christmas.
