2025 Jeep Compass to get petrol, hybrid and EV power

The all-new 2025 Jeep Compass has been previewed ahead of its official reveal in the coming weeks, with Jeep confirming its latest medium SUV will come with combustion, hybrid and battery-electric powertrains.

Based on the same STLA Medium underpinnings as the latest Peugeot 3008 and 5008, our first glimpse of the new Compass shows it will come with far tougher and more-rugged styling similar to the smaller Avenger.

Key features include a pair of recessed headlamps and prominent squared-off arches housing large alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tyres.

There’s no word yet if Jeep will award its ‘Trail Rated’ badge to its latest model, but if it does, expect the most rugged versions to lead its class for off-road traction, water fording, axle articulation, ground clearance and general capability.

It’s expected the hybrid variants will be powered by Stellantis’ 100kW 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and a 21kW electric motor with transmission duties handled by a six-speed dual-clutch automatic.

As far as Compass EVs, there could be as many as three with the entry-level versions of the new Compass primed to score a single 160kW e-motor, rising to 230kW when referring the mid-range offering.

At the top of the tree will be a 240kW dual-motor version which should offer the quickest acceleration; however it will be the mid-ranger that offers the biggest range: up to 700km from a full charge of its 98kWh battery.

Jeep has already confirmed the Compass will initially be built in Italy before the project is expanded to Mexico, India and Brazil.

With deliveries set to kick off in Europe in 2025, it’s thought other markets, like Australia, might have to wait until early 2026.
