Jeep will introduce a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) option for the 2025 Jeep Gladiator ute that’s likely to offer the same 280kW powertrain as found in the closely related Jeep Wrangler 4xe and other models.
Jeep boss Antonio Filosa took to social media to confirm the 2025 Jeep Gladiator 4xe would become available next year, but did not release further details.
As seen on Wrangler and Grand Cherokee, the 4xe combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor and 17.3kWh lithium-ion battery.
Combined, the Gladiator 4xe should produce 280kW and 640Nm of torque, while offering a pure-electric range of more than 30km.
The PHEV powertrain is likely to maintain a similar 2720kg maximum towing capacity as the current model that relies on a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 (209kW/347Nm).
There’s no word yet on whether Jeep Australia plans to offer the Gladiator PHEV in our market.
The hybrid is not yet available in the Wrangler, despite the brand recently moving to four-cylinder turbo-petrol power, but does offer it on the Grand Cherokee.
