2025 KGM Musso and Rexton gain key safety features

More toys, crucial driver aids and price increases applied to aging Korean 4x4s

A refreshed KGM (formerly SsangYong) has given its key Musso and Rexton 4x4s a safety overhaul for the 2026 model year, finally adding some crucial driver aids to the ladder-frame duo.

Naturally, the asking prices of both models have gone up accordingly, the 2025 KGM Musso by up to $5500 and the 2025 KGM Rexton by up to $2500, though there are also a couple of equipment gains to ease the pain.

Starting with the Musso, standard wheelbase versions of the base ELX have gained electric power steering, a reach adjustable steering wheel, lane keep assist, HID headlights and silver roof rails – the stretched XLV version misses out on all these upgrades save for the reach-adjust steering wheel and roof rails.

The mid-range Adventure has been renamed ‘Advance’ and upgraded with the above features as well as black 18-inch alloy wheels, a black grille, HID headlights, dual-zone climate control, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic warning, lane change-collision warning, safety exit warning, a heated steering wheel and rear privacy glass.

Above that, the flagship Ultimate adds (new for MY26) a ‘special design’ black bumper and grille combo, black interior highlights, a powered sunroof, LED headlights, sequential front indicators, eight-way powered front seats with driver lumbar support, powered driver lumbar support and heated rear outer seats.

Similar upgrades have been made to the Rexton: the ELX now comes with faux leather upholstery, electric power steering, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, C-type LED daytime running lights and sequential indicators.

The MY26 Advance (formerly Adventure) gains all of this and adds rear sun blinds, to which the Ultimate then adds a wireless phone charger.

The Ultimate’s optional Sport Pack meantime has gained black leather and suede seats, suede trim and a gloss black steering wheel bezel.

No changes have been made to either model’s 2.2-litre turbo-diesel powertrain, meaning the Musso still outputs 133kW/400Nm while the Rexton stays a class above with 148kW/441Nm.

Both have retained their part-time 4x4 systems and respective six- and eight-speed automatic transmissions.
