The Kia Stonic has been given a second facelift to extend its lifecycle and will arrive Down Under by the end of the year, though local pricing and specification details are all yet to be confirmed.
The 2025 Kia Stonic is now comfortably one of the oldest models in Kia’s global portfolio, but the popular light SUV has been given another overhaul – its first for Australia – to prolong its lifespan even further and better combat the evolving wave of new segment challengers.
Due in local showrooms by mid-Q4, the new model dons a Picanto-inspired aesthetic and pairs its new look with an overhauled interior that adopts Kia’s dual-screen panoramic display (12.3-inch infotainment and matching instrument cluster) and the ‘Multimode Touch Display’ that toggles between the climate and infotainment controls, as seen in the Sportage.
Other changes include new wheels, a redesigned steering wheel, resculpted gear knob, updated dashboard, a new centre console, USB-C ports, wireless smartphone charging, the addition of Kia Connect, digital key functionality and a heap of new safety features.
In Kia’s own words, headlining the safety upgrades are blind-spot collision avoidance assist with safe exit warning, forward collision-avoidance assist 1.5, navigation-based smart cruise control, highway driving assist and lane following assist.
As for the powertrain, the current model’s 1.0-litre turbo-petrol triple has been carried over untouched (74kW/172Nm) but can now also be had with mild hybrid assistance which bumps outputs to 86kW/172Nm and 86kW/200Nm in (six-speed) manual and (seven-speed dual-clutch) automatic forms respectively.
Kia Australia has thus far confirmed the updated Stonic is headed for our shores, but we’re yet to see or hear how much it’ll cost, what the range will look like in terms of variants or which powertrain we’ll be getting.
Odds are the prices will increase significantly over the current model which starts from $25,660 plus on-road costs.
