UPDATE, 27/06/2025: Pricing for the first cab-chassis 2025 Kia Tasman variant has appeared online, specifically the S dual-cab 4x4 which will start from $48,240 plus on-road costs when it arrives here in August, though we expect to see a drive-away figure announced shortly.
More cab-chassis variants will be added to the fray so expect plenty of updates to this report as they surface via Redbook and Kia's official channels.
We've added the new variant to the pricing table below.
UPDATE, 19/06/2025: Kia Australia has sharpened its pencil and announced a new drive-away pricing model for its inbound Tasman pick-up truck, one that shaves at least a couple of grand off the new workhorse's bottom line.

The manufacturer's recommended list prices can still be found below the original article, but this update is accompanied by a drive-away table.

ORIGINAL, 17/04/2025: Pricing for the highly anticipated new Kia Tasman dual-cab 4x4 turbo-diesel ute will start at $49,990 plus on-road costs, undercutting most of its key rivals by at least a few hundred dollars.
The dual-cab 4x4 diesel Ford Ranger, Toyota HiLux, Isuzu D-Max, Mazda BT-50 and Volkswagen Amarok line-ups all start over $50,000.
Only the Nissan Navara and the cut-price Chinese Cannon, JAC, LDV line-ups are pitched at a cheaper starting point than the controversially styled Tasman.
However, pricing for the Tasman dual-cab 4x4 tops out at $74,990 for the off-road-focused X-Pro flagship, which only undercuts Ranger, D-MAX and Amarok flagships.
Kia has also pitched its Tasman 4x2 dual-cab diesel at $42,990 plus on-road costs, which is competitive against logical rivals.
A full price list and equipment breakdown through the grades is printed at the bottom of this story.
All Tasmans will be powered by a 154kW/440Nm version of Kia's ubiquitous 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Those outputs are a bit on the low side compared to Tasman's rivals, especially the Ranger which has been the target in development testing. However, a 2.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid powertrain is expected to arrive in due course.
There are five dual-cab models confirmed – S, SX, SX+, X-Line and X-Pro.
The 4x2 is only available as an S, while the 4x4 is offered in all five equipment trims.
Pre-orders for the dual cabs have opened and it will enter showrooms in July, but without the benefit of a massive pre-launch road show intended to warm up potential buyers.
The Tasman dual cab chassis will arrive approximately one month later followed by the single cab chassis in late 2025.
The single cab chassis will be offered in either S 4x2, S 4x4, or SX 4x4, while the dual cab chassis can be chosen as either S 4x4 or SX 4x4.
Pricing for these variants will be announced at a later date.
As forecast by carsales in 2024, Kia is offering each model with a choice of body coloured or grey versions of the controversial fender flares. Indeed, the Tasman's design has polarised opinion.
The body-colour fenders will be available in two of the eight colour choices – clear white and tan beige – at no added cost. However, opting for body colour in X-Line and X-Pro means their rear fenders lose their storage capability.
Kia is also offering each Tasman with the choice of a 1000kg-plus payload or a reduced payload to make the Tasman eligible for novated leasing. Again, this is a no-cost option.
The highest payload Tasman will be the 1124kg S 4x2 single cab chassis, while the X-Pro 4x4 dual cab will carry up to 1013kg.
Kia has also confirmed a gross vehicle mass of 3250kg across all variants and a 6200kg gross combination mass. The braked towing figure will be the industry-standard 3500kg.
Crunch the numbers and this equates to a 2237kg kerb weight for the X-Pro, a 463kg payload when towing 3500kg and 713kg at 3000kg, which is decent without matching the best in class.
An Integrated Brake Controller will be fitted standard to all Tasmans. Trailer Sway Control is included in its safety features.
The Tasman's tub measures 1512mm long, 1572mm wide and 540mm high. That means it can fit an Aussie pallet and has an overall capacity of 1173 litres (VDA).
Tasman is offered with eight exterior colours and three interior two-tone trims across the lineup. S and SX have cloth seat trim, while SX+ adds artificial leather and X-Line and X-Pro drop the cloth.
The S is the only model in the range equipped with 17-inch steel wheels. The rest get 17-inch alloys, except the dress-up X-Line that rolls on 18s.
In the cabin, all Tasmans include three digital screens stitched together across the dashboard behind a single piece of glass – a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch instrument panel separated by a 5.0-inch climate control display.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Kia Connect remote functions and over-the-air updates are also included.
X-Line and X-Pro models are also equipped with dual wireless smartphone charging capability, enabling the charging of two phones at once. The S and SX miss out on wireless smartphone charging altogether.
Among other things, S also misses out on inbuilt satellite navigation and off-road terrain snow, mud and sand modes; SX+ adds rear air-conditioning vents, a tubliner and 2 x 240V outlets; X-Line migrates to a column-type gear shift, adds a surround view monitor and a powered driver's seat; the X-Pro adds a bunch of off-road features including an electronic locking rear diff, upgraded from the mechanical rear locker that other models get – and it adds a sunroof. See below for a full equipment rundown.
Kia claims segment-leading 45 litres of storage under the second-row seat base, which also slides in the X-Line and X-Pro while the seat back reclines.
The X-Line and X-Pro also feature a small table that folds out of the centre console lid between the front seats.
Stay tuned for our first drive of the new Tasman ute soon.
