The 2025 Leapmotor C10 is set to receive a healthy power boost that will see it match the recently updated Tesla Model Y’s 220kW.
According to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) government filing, the upgraded C10 will produce 50kW more than the C10 sold in China and 60kW more than the model currently sold in Australia and Europe.
According to Car News China, the Leapmotor C10 will receive no internal or exterior changes, which isn’t surprising given it was only launched last year.
Introduced to Australia earlier this year priced from $47,500 drive away, the C10 comes with a 69.9kWh lithium iron phosphate battery that delivers a range of 420km.
From launch the Leapmotor lacked Apple CarPlay and Android Auto because of the origin of the C10’s in-car chips.
Originally, Leapmotor said the C10 would get both smartphone mirroring platforms shortly after launch but now the car-maker says the tech will be introduced belatedly as part of a mid-life update.
It’s not yet known if the C10 REEV (range-extended EV) will also receive a more powerful rear motor but it’s unlikely the hybrid will be updated when it arrives in showrooms later this month.
That model combines a 158kW electric motor with a 28.4kWh battery that can be charged by the 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine under its bonnet.
On a full charge the C10 offers an EV-only range of 145km.
When it lands the latest Leapmotor C10 REEV will arrive with a 1150km range on a full charge and with a full tank of fuel.
