2025 Mahindra XUV3XO eyes sub-$30K price

Indian brand’s baby SUV to square off with Toyota Yaris Cross, Hyundai Venue, and Mazda CX-3

The 2025 Mahindra XUV3XO small SUV will be priced under $30,000 when it makes its Australian debut later this year.

Confirmed for arrival in coming weeks, the new Mahinda XUV3XO will compete with the new influx of Chinese small SUVs, including the Chery Omoda 5 ($27,990 drive away), GWM Haval Jolion ($26,990 drive away), and MG ZS ($26,990 drive away).

But the greatest rival from which Mahindra hopes to carve some sales with its XUV3XO is the ageing Mazda CX-3 which, despite being on sale for 10 years, found an incredible 18,461 homes last year. The hybrid-only Toyota Yaris Cross will also be in its sights.

To help it compete, the XUV3XO measures in at just 3995mm long but maximises interior space with a generous 2600mm wheelbase. The baby Mahindra also combines lots of cabin space with a decent 364-litre boot – 100L more than a CX-3.

Top-spec AX7 versions come with LED headlights and taillights, 17-inch alloy wheels and the option of two-tone paint.

Inside, there’s faux leather seats, dual-zone climate control, rear vents in the second row and a panoramic sunroof.

Australian-spec cars are tipped to get dual 10.25-inch screens that combine a digital instrument cluster with an infotainment system.

Under the bonnet, a turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine produces either 82kW and 200Nm of torque or 96kW and 230Nm, with Australians likely to miss out on a six-speed manual in favour of an automatic.

Driver-assist tech includes autonomous emergency braking with cyclist and pedestrian detection, traffic-sign recognition and adaptive cruise control.

In Australia, the latest XUV3XO joins the much larger XUV700 and Scorpio SUVs, as well as the rugged S11 4x4 Pikup dual-cab ute.

Mahindra Australia says it will announce pricing and full specifications shortly, and is taking expressions of interest from interested buyers via its website.
